One of the major problems faced by working women is the care of their  children while they are at work. With the objective of providing a clean and comfortable environment and good care for their children, IWSA started its Day Care Center in 1988. 

The Day Care Center  named after 'G. M. ABHYANKER' caters to about 30 children, aged from six months to six years.
 

 

SALIENT FEATURES :

Age Group : 6 months to 6 years

Timing : 7.00 a.m. to 7 p.m.  on all week  days, except on Sundays and Public Holidays.

No. of Staff : 3 Supervisors and 7 Helpers. Trained supervisors, with training in child care, manage the center along with the helpers.

Facilities :

  • The Center has a large and  well ventilated  room for children and a small kitchenette, provided with a  microwave and a refrigerator. Perishable food items like milk, fruit juices, etc. are kept in the refrigerator . Food is warmed in the food-warmer and microwave before serving. An aqua guard provides safe drinking water. Adequate number of clean mattresses, pillows and other linen items are provided for children to sleep on. Special racks of shelves allows to keep the children's belongings ( school bags, water bottles, etc. ) in a neat manner.

  • The Centre has an open courtyard with play equipments like swing and slide; educational toys for different age groups are being constantly added on.

  • There is a separate toilet block suitable for children consisting of  2-3 Indian style toilets and wash basins  within the reach of the children. A separate toilet has been provided for the staff.

  • Extra facility for taking children to and from the crèche and nearby school is provided.

  • Meetings between parents and management are held at regular intervals.

  • Skills of staff members are constantly being upgraded; they are exposed to lectures in child development by experts in the area. 

Activities : 

Children are kept engaged by the staff throughout the day with story telling, games, songs and other creative activities. Once a year, the children are taken for a picnic to nearby gardens / places of interest.
