Training Course for teachers : Diploma in Nursery/ Crèche Teacher's Training course

Training of Pre-primary teachers was started in January, 1995. Initially, starting with a certificate course of three months, today this programme has matured into a full-time, one year, diploma course, affiliated to  SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. 

The course is offered in Marathi and English languages. with application forms available in IWSA office, @ Rs. 25/ only.

 

Eligibility :  S.S.C. or equivalent.

Age        :  No Bar
Admission open for 2010-2011 batch

 

Requirement for Admission  : Two  Xerox copies
1) S.S.C or Equivalent  - passing certificate and mark-list.
2) If S.S.C exam is from any other board /State (other than Maharashtra ) eligibility form      is to be filled.
3) Marriage Certificate, if name is different in SSC certificate & in the application .
4) 2 copies of colour passport size photographs. (Bring originals at the time of interview).
5) Application form dually filled in.
6) Statement of purpose -  Write in your own words (not more than 500 words) why   
     you  want to do this course.

Science Awareness / Personality Development Camps for students

To promote scientific temper among school children and teachers, various workshops are conducted by    IWSA, specially for weaker sections of the society. To mention a few workshops held in the past, the emphasis was on how to make science interesting, small scientific experiments and hands- on- experience to children and teachers.

 

In April 1997  :  A 3 days camp for 65 students of  7-8th std. for 6 different school

    May, 2000 :  A 4 days camp, for students of schools in Indira Nagar & Turbhe stores

    Nov. 2000  :  Science Exhibition & workshop for children for about 300 children, including  

                          films shows, mini planetarium etc.

    May 2001   :  A 3 days workshop for 35 children from nearby schools in vashi

    April 2003   :  4 days workshop for 42 children of "Sathi" & "Arambh"  NGOs from Turbhe   

                          stores area.

    April 2004  :  6 days workshop for 45 children from various NMMC schools.

    May 2005  :  40 children of B. M.  Ashram, Koperkhairane.

    April 2006:   Three days workshop for 40 children of B. M. Ashram, Koparkhairane.

 

 

Training Workshops/ Camps for Pre-Primary and Primary Teachers

Attempts are to conduct special training workshops for teachers teaching in Marathi schools or schools affiliated to the NMMC.

 

August  2004     :  3 days teacher refresher course for 25 Primary Teachers of NMMC schools,
                           with focus on language development, teaching aids to make science and maths
                           interesting, nutrition awareness.

 

October 2006     : Three day workshop for 52 pre-primary teachers of NMMC. Emphasis was on
                           preparation of low cost teaching aids, with use of waste materials.

 

August 2008      : Workshop on "Learning Disabilities" for the primary school teachers of Navi Mumbai
                           Municipal schools.   

 

 

Mrs. Indirabai Padhye Nursery School

IWSA has been running a Nursery school in its premises since 1993. Every year starting from June, about 20-30 children from  2 1/2  to 3 1/2 years are admitted. Overall development is promoted by play-way method by trained staff members. The nursery school is from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m (monday to fridays).
 

Requirements:

1. Birth certificate
2. Application form
3. Immunization record

4. Identity card size 2 photos

 

Fees structure:

Admission fee : Rs. 500/;

Term fee       : Rs. 500/

Tuition   fee    : Rs. 3000/-
sports T-shirt  : Rs.250/-

Total Fees to be paid in advance for First term is Rs.4250/- only

 

Nursery School will be closed from 10th April to 13th June 2010.
 

Admissions are open for June batch. School will reopen on Monday 14th June at 9.30 a.m.

People's Functional Literacy Programme
This programme was initiated by IWSA in November, 1994 in Indira Nagar, a slum area in Navi Mumbai. Ten local girls as tutors and about 30 children below 10 years of age were initially taken up for detailed studies. The specialty of PLP was that the tutors were chosen from the local area; mostly dropouts of schools were encouraged to select three children from the vicinity and teach them in  non- formal, play- way method & eventually motivate them to join formal education. Tutors earned small supplementary monthly income of Rs. 200/-. So far, nearly  2000 children were taught in Indira Nagar .

At present, in Turbhe and in some schools of NMMC, a programme to improve functional literacy in underprivileged class of society initiated.
